America's Cup

Below is a copy from an advertisement in The Christian Union ©1893 what I found interesting was the detail on the silver. It caused me to pause and discover this was presented to Capt. Charles J. Paine winner of three America's Cup Sailing Races. His successful wins with the America's Cup were in The Puritan in 1885, The Mayflower in 1886, The Volunteer in 1887. He was also a General during the Civil War.

Note the detail on the silver that was presented to him. The presentation was so honored that the event is mentioned in a family genealogy of the Paines.
